The Village and Commune of Peyrilles.

Peyrilles is a medieval village with a dominant Château which can be traced back to at least 1187 when it became the holding of Richard the Lionheart, by treaty with the French king.

The Château is owned by the Commune and is currently under a programme of restoration. We have monthly work-days when those that are interested can work on aspects of the restoration.

The Château is used for functions, such as the annual International Dinner when all local nationalities take along an ethnic dinner dish. The French really love haggis.

We also host a medieval day in July which has been very successful and is run by volunteers.

The mayor of a Commune can make your stay good or difficult. I am pleased to say that our mayor is helpful, beyond his expected duties and takes time to welcome and assist all newcomers. He speaks excellent English.
